Is there a maximum size for the body of an API request?

Question

I want to know what is the maximum size possible for the body of a request. As an example, how many object URIs can I put in a "Retrieve Tasks" API request?

Answer

This will be dependent upon the size of the response: in the Retrieve Tasks example, you can start with 20 and increase to 50.
