Restricting User Access to Only the User Management Console in Reltio

Problem

Users who should only have access to the User Management Console in Reltio should not be able to access other functions or areas in the Reltio Console UI. However, the User Management Console requires full access, and you need a way to limit users' access to only this console.

Solution

To restrict users to the User Management Console and prevent access to other console functions, follow these steps:

  1. Assign the ROLE_ADMIN_USER Role:
    • Assign the user to the ROLE_ADMIN_USER role. This role allows users to access only the User Management Console, ensuring that they cannot interact with other areas of the console.
    • The user will now have full access to the User Management Console but will receive a "Forbidden Access" error if they try to access other consoles.
  2. Step-by-Step Guide to Assign the ROLE_ADMIN_USER Role:
    • Navigate to the Reltio Admin Console.
    • Go to the Users section and select the user you want to restrict access for.
    • In the user details page, assign the ROLE_ADMIN_USER role.
    • Save the changes. The user will now have access only to the User Management Console.
  3. Access Restrictions:
    • Once the ROLE_ADMIN_USER role is assigned, the user will be unable to access other functions like job management, reporting, and other consoles. Any attempt to access other functions will result in a "Forbidden Access" error.

Important Notes

  • Console Applications: Currently, there is no way to hide specific console applications for particular users. The ROLE_ADMIN_USER role provides the simplest way to restrict access to the User Management Console.
  • Custom Role Options: If you need more granular control over user permissions and access to different functionalities within the platform, you can create custom roles to better align with specific user needs.
